If you really must climb, you can also do it in Laos!
There are about six areas:
Nr. 6: is located in the prohibited military zone. Stay alive or try to go there.
Nr. 5: here you have to cross a river without a bridge and the river is not shallow. After that you probably find more dust and dirt than rock.
Nr. 4: unsafe rock in the jungle, the hardest climb is a 7a, just 9 routes in total.
Nr. 3: 20 km from Vang Vieng, a jungle wall, rarely climbed. Plenty of spiderwebs and dust. Partly unsafe rock. If you ask me, it is probably the best climbing area around VV. But be carefull while approaching, don't step into a mammal trap!
Nr. 2: behind the drunk tubing people, wet.
Nr. 1: Easy climbs, crowded by the beginner courses
A german guy is drilling more beginner routes around VV. Soon there will be one more area.We heard that in the south is an amazing wall of best quality rock. French guys are drilling there, but at the moment all topos and infos are just available in french. This should change the next time...
No warranty for the last infos.
For more up to date infos write Adam a mail, he has a small climbing school
in Vang Vieng and is really really helpful; even if you don't join his classes.

He speaks a good english and a bit german too.
